Currently in the midst of a national tour, with over 30,000 tickets sold so far, today Spacey Jane reveals a reimagined version of recent single Hardlight and a cover of Paramore’s The Only Exception exclusively for Spotify Singles.

“We really enjoyed putting these tracks together – it was some of the most fun we’ve had in the studio in ages,” says frontman Caleb Harper.   “With Hardlight, it was cool to go back to the song and play around with ideas that didn’t quite make the album cut and approach it with fresh ears. It’s not something you get to do with your own music very often.  The Paramore cover was a dream too, we tried to keep it as simple as possible, the original really doesn’t need reinvention so we just got lost in the melodrama of it,” he adds.

Spacey Jane’s contribution will be the third release for the Spotify Singles AUNZ program, and as of 2021, there have been more than 630 recordings from over 300 artists accumulating over five billion streams.

The new music follows on from the release of the Fremantle four-piece’s acclaimed second studio album, Here Comes Everybody, which debuted at #1 on the ARIA album chart in June. Taken from the working title of Wilco’s seminal album Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (one of the bands’ favourite albums) Here Comes Everybody sounds and feels like an album that has truly been lived in. Every note is imbued with hard-earned wisdom now being passed down to a new generation. The album features recent singles, Pulling ThroughHardlight, It’s Been A Long Day,  Sitting UpLots of Nothing which landed at #3 on the triple j hottest 100 and Lunchtime which also took out the #12 position on the coveted poll.

Renowned for their energetic and dynamic live show, it’s been a heavy year of touring for the band, with sold-out performances in Australia, and 13 sold-out dates in the UK and Europe in May. Demand is also high for their upcoming 24-date tour in North America in October and November, with shows in San Francisco, LA, Boston, Toronto, Chicago, Washington DC, Vancouver,  Santa Ana and two New York performances sold out months in advance.  Spacey Jane will also take the stage at Spin Off, Day Trip, Spilt Milk, Lost Paradise, Heaps Good and Falls Festivals.

The beginning of Spacey Jane’s astonishing success arrived when the band released debut album Sunlight in June 2020.  Universal adulation duly followed for the band – vocalist and guitarist Caleb Harper, bassist Peppa Lane, guitarist Ashton Hardman-Le Cornu and drummer and manager Kieran Lama. The album debuted at #2 on the ARIA album chart, was voted Album of the Year in the triple j Listener’s Poll, was nominated for a J Award for Album of the Year and is now certified Gold.  The sleeper single-turned-megahit, Booster Seat picked up Song Of The Year at the 2021 ARIA’s, the AIR Awards Best Independent Song Of The Year and is certified Platinum. It currently sits at over 50 million streams on Spotify alone, with the band hitting over 200 million in total streamsBooster Seat also landed at #2 on the triple j hottest 100 in 2021, alongside Skin at #15Straightfaced at #28 and Weightless at #81
