WA tour dates commence Thursday March 2

Nathan Cavaleri has today announced his brand new single QUERENCIA, set for release on March 3, along with the exciting news that he has an extensive run of national tour dates planned.

WA fans will have the first opportunity to catch Cavaleri live as he embarks on a huge run of state-wide dates from March 2, including Fremantle, Bunbury, two sets at Nannup Music Festival, Margaret River, Albany, Esperance, Geraldton, Exmouth, Karratha and concluding up north in Broome.

The new single Querencia follows last year’s hypnotic release, Cool Changes. The term Querencia, written from the perspective of the bull, owes its origin to the bull fighting arena – it is a part of the arena claimed by the bull that represents home, refuge and strength. A space and inner state where its power transcends fear. This is therefore the most dangerous time to attack a bull.

Cavaleri explains – “Querencia for humans has many meanings but my favourite has it as an internal state representing home, refuge and strength. A place of peace and power available even amidst chaos. I love this philosophy because it means we’re not at the mercy of our circumstances. That even during the most painful times, we have ability to find peace.

“Research on bullfighting for my song Querencia showed me some interesting parallels between what happens in and out of the arena – The demonisation of those who express fear as anger – Those who raise voices instead of shedding tears – Those who fight instead of flee – Those who digest emotions with silence over words – Those who are hard and not soft. Who decided that these traits were bad? What if I said that underneath that hardness was a soft tender loving heart – that just expresses itself differently.”

Cavaleri is one of Australia’s most highly acclaimed singer /songwriter /guitarists.  He has worked with some of the world’s finest and most celebrated musicians across the course of his career, including Bonnie Raitt, Diesel and Mark Knopfler to name a select few.

Appearing as the subject of the ABC’s Australian Story in 2020, Cavaleri revealed,“Having that type of attention as a kid has both inspired me and haunted me.”

He was once labelled “the future of blues” by B.B. King. Of his gradual sonic evolution, Cavaleri explains, “Blues has always been my home, but as the years went on it could only sometimes allow me to express what I wanted to express, and that’s when I started to venture out and experiment with different styles. It’s hard to escape my blues roots – you’re going to hear it through everything – but I think you’d probably struggle to put my next album in the blues genre on the shelf. But the blues is there; you can still hear it.”

Cavaleri has documented his forthcoming record’s entire creative process (“songwriting, recording, producing, mixing – everything”) via the interactive livestreaming service, Twitch, accumulating 2 million live viewers through the process. “It kept me focused,” he commends. “I actually perform better and I’m more productive when I stream, because I have to be accountable. They’re stoked as well, because I don’t think a full album’s ever been created on Twitch.”
