Fanny Lumsden Unveils New Single ‘MILLIONAIRE’

Fanny Lumsden signals her highly anticipated return today with brand new music, via the vibrant, jangly indie guitar-pop of single, Millionaire.   Download / stream HERE.

Millionaire is the first taste of what’s to come from Lumsden in 2023 as she gears up for the release of her fourth studio album.

Fanny explains the genesis of Millionaire, saying “Like a lot of firsts, getting your first car is a season of freedom that you can never quite live again. Mine came in the form of a Daewoo Ciello, bought off the side of the road in Griffith, NSW at age 18. I have never really wanted fancy things and to me the ultimate day is heading to the river, music blaring in the car, with family and friends. I am aware it takes a certain level of luck and privilege to feel that way, and also that a million dollars is not even the median price for a modest house anymore … but it is the sentiment that counts. Give me a drive through the redgum forest and arvo at the river, lots of people, love and chaos around my kitchen table and I’m a millionaire.”

Millionaire follows on from Lumsden’s ARIA Top 10, Golden Guitar and ARIA Award-winning 2020 album Fallow, and sees the acclaimed singer songwriter incorporate guitar-based indie-pop into her trademark world of gorgeously crafted, emotionally rich acoustic songwriting.

“I just let it go there,” she smiles. “It doesn’t need anything else, it can just be this fun song.”

Lumsden will premiere the video for Millionaire this Sunday night March 5, from 8pm AEDT via YouTube – tune in HERE.

Next up for Fanny is a series of acoustic shows (see here for dates), and the latest instalment of her Country Halls Tour. With its humble beginnings in 3 halls in the Riverina in 2012, it is now celebrating its 10-year milestone! Over that time Fanny and her small (mostly family) team have put on full band, full productions of original live music in more than 200 halls all over Australia, raising funds for communities, and raising the roof off halls with their all-in-community-night-out.

To celebrate they are heading out in a two-part tour across Australia. Fanny has today announced Part 1 of the tour which will be heading out to halls throughout regional NSW including Tallimba which was where it all began with the very first hall the Country Halls Tour show every played – and also where Fanny grew up in the northern Riverina. Part 2 will be announced later this year and is set to visit halls all over the country

Fanny explains, “I can’t believe that those three halls in 2012 has turned into 10 years and over 200 halls all over the country. To every community that has showed up and showed off their hall, thank you, to every person cooking the BBQ, run the bar, put out chairs, to every km my team has driven with me, to every person who has told me stories of their halls – thank you! As an application-based tour, where the halls apply to host I am blown away every year by the sheer number of halls that apply to host original live music. So this is to all those regional communities out there supporting the arts whilst feeding the nation… that is the serious side of it, but mostly to everyone from babies to grandparents just turning up for a fun night out!” www.countryhallstour.com
