The Screaming Jets Upcoming National Tour In Support For Professional Misconduct Album
SHOWS COMMENCE THIS FRIDAY 3 NOVEMBER IN BRISBANE
#1 AUSTRALIAN ALBUM
PROFESSIONAL MISCONDUCT,
IN HONOUR OF PAUL WOSEEN
Australian Rock legends, The Screaming Jets are gearing up to embark on a huge national album tour, which gets underway this weekend in Brisbane.
The commencement of the string of shows follows the chart-topping debut of their tenth studio album Professional Misconduct. In a testament to the band’s longevity and mirroring the top 5 album chart for their debut release in 1991, this new record landed at #1 on the ARIA Australian album chart, #1 on the ARIA Vinyl album chart and #3 on the main ARIA album chart. It also debuted in the #1 spot on iTunes and the AIR Album charts respectively.
Filling in on bass across the tour will be Dario Bortolin (Baby Animals, Rose Tattoo) and Adam Ventoura (Midnight Oil) after the recent passing of co-founder, chief songwriter and bass player, Paul Woseen.
The band are looking forward to celebrating Paul’s life with his thousands of friends and fans on the road. As the Jets’ recently expressed on socials, “We want this record full of Paully’s songs to fly high as a testament to the music he devoted his life to.”
Dave Gleeson said today “We’re excited to kick off this national album tour, and it means the world to us to see the support we have received for ‘Professional Misconduct.’ The response to our tenth studio album has been incredible, hitting #1 on the ARIA Australian album chart, and it’s a testament to the enduring passion of our fans. We can’t wait to play our new songs for the fans, alongside the classics they know and love. With the loss of Paully, this tour is bound to be an emotional one for us. Nevertheless, it’s crucial for us to commemorate his life and the music he left us with. When we step onto the stage, we’ll join our fans in raising a glass to a life well-lived and in sharing Paul’s incredible music”.
In a show of support for emerging talent, The Screaming Jets will be taking the band ‘Smacked Youth’ on the road with them. Hailing from Newcastle, this three-piece punk sensation is confirmed as special guests for all tour dates, with the exception of Perth*. The story of their inclusion on the tour began when frontman Sam D’Agostino contacted The Screaming Jets, proposing a possible support slot for a Newcastle show. To the band’s surprise, they were offered the coveted supporting role for the tour. Smacked Youth’s EP “I’ll Catch You On The Wrong Side,” and their single “My Station,” has gained recognition on Spotify playlists, including “New Music Friday,” “Rock Out,” and “Local Noise”, and airplay on Triple J.
Dave Gleeson goes on to say, “We’re thrilled to have ‘Smacked Youth’ join us on the ‘Professional Misconduct’ Tour. It’s a nod to our own beginnings, and we know what it means to be given this kind of touring opportunity. Supporting young talent, especially from our hometown of Newcastle, is a way of giving back, just like the legendary bands who once took us under their wings”.
