Tom Busby Unleashes Debut Album Rockhampton Hangover

Award‑winning singer‑songwriter Tom Busby has proudly released his much‑anticipated debut solo album, Rockhampton Hangover, with three album‑launch performances scheduled across Queensland this weekend, presented by STETSON.

Still very much one half of the celebrated, chart‑topping blues and roots duo Busby Marou, this album sees Tom stepping into the spotlight with his most personal and unfiltered work to date.

Tom shares: “I’m seriously pumped this record’s finally out. Making it with Ben Kweller was a turning point for me as an artist. He challenged me, backed me, and helped me dig deeper than I probably would’ve on my own. These songs were born in Rockhampton, through some of the best days and some pretty tough ones too. To now send a piece of Rocky out into the world… that feels massive.”

Produced by indie icon Ben Kweller and recorded in Texas Hill Country, the record features the new single Crazy, alongside previously released tracks Lottery, Cyclone, Someone Strong, Waiting for Tomorrow, and the haunting ballad In The Dark.

On the new single Crazy — a straight‑up, slightly twisted love letter to his wife Huma — Tom explains: “I’d just written this song and Troy Cassar‑Daley asked me to open for him in Brisbane, as a solo act. He said, ‘I want to see you roar on your own’. Jesus! So, I started telling the story of writing Crazy without realising my wife was side of stage. I said ‘This is a love song, but at the end of the day it’s about how batshit crazy my wife is. But thankfully I am too.’ She’s like ‘You little arsehole!’ We’re all a bit bonkers. We don’t have to pretend we’re not anymore. No one’s normal. Everyone’s got demons, no matter how perfect your life seems. Life’s hard.”
